The Hamburg Church of Christ
Was formed on January 11, 1976, when 50 people joined together to worship at Stout Elementary School. They decided to be known as the Community Church of Christ. Bro. Kenneth Lawyer agreed to serve as minister.
The congregation continued to be known as the Community Church of Christ until February 23, 1977, when it was decided to change the name to Hamburg Church of Christ.
The congregation met in several locations until three acres were purchased and the present building was built. Groundbreaking ceremonies were held on April 8, 1978. The first services were held in the present building in October 1978.
We have continued to support many missionaries throughout the world in our efforts to spread the gospel to others. The congregation has always assisted sister congregations to further the gospel as the need arises.
The leadership of this congregation has been under the direction of our Lord Jesus with Bros. Victor Stockdell (deceased), Emory Grimes, Gerald Dixon, and Nathan Grimes serving as elders.
Bro. Ken Lawyer served as minister of the congregation until March 1, 1986, when Bro. Paul Kitzmiller began serving as minister. In February 1997 Bro. Paul & Sis. Virginia announced their desire to be used of the Lord in Russia. A year later they went to Russia for the first time. The Hamburg congregation had several "guest" speakers until June 1998 when Bro. Randy Coultas agreed to relocate from Louisana to minister to us.
